BAKOTECH works through a partner network
Public Joint Stock Company "BANK VOSTOK" has been operating in the Ukrainian market since 2011. Over the past 15 years, it has become one of the leading private banks in Ukraine, serving both individual and corporate clients. The bank actively invests in digital technologies, including mobile banking, analytics, automation, and cyber resilience. Its mission is to provide each client with simple, fast, and secure access to financial services.
Today, the bank's IT ecosystem is a complex network of interdependent services running across both cloud and on-premises environments. Core banking systems, CRM, digital channels, and security infrastructure all operate in real time, requiring transparency, consistency, and high performance. Together with Fozzy Group, the bank was recognized in the Best FinTech Ecosystem category at the Ukrainian Fintech Awards 2023, highlighting excellence in digital innovation.
This scale and complexity are the result of years of evolution—something Oleksandr Ryabchun, Head of Software Development at BANK VOSTOK, knows personally. Since joining the bank in 2013 as a system administrator, he has grown into a leadership role overseeing all areas of software development, including mobile solutions.
Since 2013, the bank has actively developed its internal IT capabilities. Over the past decade, the development team has grown from 10 specialists to a full-fledged department with more than 100, and the scope of digital transformation has expanded far beyond the original goals. Today, the bank’s IT infrastructure includes over 1,300 microservices deployed across cloud and on-premises environments. In this new landscape, traditional monitoring tools became a bottleneck. The volume of incidents increased, root cause analysis became more challenging, and teams often operated with incomplete or fragmented data.
As our teams grew alongside the pace of change, IT services became critical to the customer experience, and that completely reshaped our approach to support.

The BAKOTECH team helped the bank implement a project to migrate the Dynatrace monitoring system from an on-premises deployment to a cloud model (SaaS). This transition provided the bank with several strategic benefits:
Dynatrace helped to identify excessive resource consumption and inefficient configurations, reducing support costs. Through the Dynatrace Platform Subscription (DPS) model, the bank pays only for what it uses — ensuring cost predictability. As one of the region’s first DPS adopters, the bank gained both financial flexibility and operational control.
The bank plans to expand Dynatrace usage in AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) environments and deepen integration with CI/CD pipelines, CloudWatch, and other services to fully support its growing cloud ecosystem.
The BANK VOSTOK case study illustrates how Dynatrace evolved from a monitoring tool into a full-scale performance management platform for a large financial institution. Its implementation has transformed the bank's approach to monitoring from reactive response to problems to proactive management, reduced costs, accelerated incident resolution, and made an important step in the Observability strategy.
The key factors behind the successful implementation of Dynatrace include not only the technological need but also the proactive attitude of the development manager, Oleksandr Riabchun, and his team. It was their strategic vision, technical expertise, and determination in digital transformation that became the catalyst for change. Oleksandr supported the idea of implementing the new platform and personally led the process of testing, assessing capabilities, and scaling. Thanks to a systematic approach, perseverance, and well-coordinated teamwork, the bank went through the transformation process confidently and efficiently; without these factors, the implementation would have been much more difficult or even impossible.
Our experience has shown that it is best to start with a small but critical segment, such as microservices or cloud services. Invest in integration with DevOps processes, involve teams from all levels, and build a digital culture around Dynatrace.
